The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the world with traditional gaiety and fervour. According to the lunar calendar, the sighting of moon determines the end of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the month succeeding Ramadan. Since morning Muslims dressed in their best had gathered at mosques to offer special prayers.
