A shopkeeper from Old Delhi has been held by the police for sending obscene and lewd messages to 1,500 women across the country over the past year. A complaint lodged by an IT executive on being harassed has led the cops to the 31-year-old shopkeeper Mohammad Khalid, hailing from Ballimaran.
The shopkeeper used to keep three SIM cards on fake IDs exclusively for calling up women and immediately switches off his phone to avoid detention. Khalid has now been arrested after the police probed the complaint lodged in Ashok vihar police station in northwest Delhi for repeatedly calling and texting 1,500 women.
Khalid has been charged with voyeurism and sexual harassment under sections 354A and 354D, apart from provisions in the IT Act.
