Kerala government to allot pension for transgender

The ruling LDF regime has announced plans to allot pension for transgender above the age of 60.
Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, while presenting budget, announced the decision on Friday in the Assembly and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to protect the rights of the community.
Last year, Kerala had become the first in the country to reveal a Transgender policy that promised to end the stigma towards the sexual minority group.
The policy covers all the categories of transgender, including male to female transgender and intersex people.
A survey had estimated that there are twenty-five thousand in the state, most of them are school and college drop due to heavy stigma and oppression.
