SC restores Nabam Tuki Govt in Arunachal Pradesh

In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court has restored the Nabam Tuki government in Arunachal Pradesh. The verdict is a big blow to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party that had placed the state under President’s Rule on January 26 after 21 Congress MLAs rebelled against the Tuki government. While passing the judgement, the Supreme Court has said that Arunachal Pradesh governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa’s decision advancing session of the state assembly by a month is in violation to the Constitution and is liable to be quashed. The SC ruling has paved the way for restoration of the Congress government in the state and with that Kalikho Pul, who had been sworn inas the chief minister on February 20, will no longer hold the post. The Supreme Court has said this verdict is applicable not just to the state but the entire country.Tuki has expressed his satisfaction and welcomed the verdict.
