Two C-17 aircraft have left for Juba on Thursday morning to evacuate 600 Indians struck in the war-torn South Sudan. Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh is leading the operation named ‘Sankatmochan’.
Earlier Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had also appealed to Sushma Swaraj to help the Indian nationals struck in the war-struck area.
Hundreds of people had been killed in Juba and thousands had fled their homes since clashes erupted on Thursday between forces loyal to Salva Kiir, the president, and those supporting Riek Machar, the first vice-president.
