Wholesale inflation ascends to 1.62% in June

The government data has revealed that the Wholesale Price Index-based inflation has accelerated for the third straight month in June. A sharp rise in the prices of food commodities has pushed up the inflation to 1.62 per cent in June versus 0.79 per cent increase in the previous month. Wholesale food prices last month rose 8.18 percent year-on-year, compared with a provisional 7.88 percent gain in May.
The fuel and power inflation have been inching up over the last six months from (-)9.89 percent in January to (-)3.62 percent in June.
