The Madras High Court framed and implemented a new disciplinary rule that carries severe punishment for lawyers who show lack of respect to courtrooms or judges.
The new rules were framed due to protest in 2014 and 2015 by lawyers for various political causes and causing severe damage to Madras High Court reputation and legal proceeding. The lawyers of Tamil Nadu have decided to lay siege of Madras high court, however even before the siege started the Bar Council of India has cancelled the licence of 105 lawyers in the state for organizing the protest.
