Terror strikes again in France as two armed men entered the church during mass taking the priest, two nuns and several churchgoers hostage.

According to French security officials, the men shouted ‘Daesh’ which is an Arabic acronym formed from the initial letters of the group’s previous name in Arabic – “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fil Iraq wa al-Sham”) and cut the priest’s throat before being neutralised. The men’s motive are still unknown and the Paris anti-terror prosecutor has taken over the investigation into the attack.

President Francois Hollande and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve have visited the spot and have taken stock of the situation.
