Assam Floods: CM asks ministers to visit constituencies, over 16 lakh affected

The flood situation in Assam has turned critical. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has taken stock of the situation and asked ministers to visit their constituency. Earlier, the ongoing budget session of the assembly was adjourned for two days from Thursday to help ministers and legislators rush to their respective constituencies. River Brahmaputra and it’s tributaries are flowing much over the danger mark and have created havoc in over 21 districts across the Brahmaputra valley. More than 16 lakh people have been affected in the floods. According to State Disaster Management Authority, more than 1.2 lakh people have removed to shelter in 472 relief camps. Nearly 2 lakh hectares of crop area have also been inundated. The Forest Minister will be also visiting the Kaziranga and Manas National Park for assessing the situation over there.
