Michael Phelps continues his legacy as the greatest Olympian to have ever. Phelps now has 13 individual Olympic gold medal, breaking the record that stood for over 2100 years which was held by Leonidas of Rhodes, the greatest athlete of ancient world. When you break a record has taken two millennia to beat, then your argument is invalid. Phelps is now the most decorated Olympian.

Michael Phelps won his 22nd gold demolishing his rival in the 200m individual medley and setting-up what turned into a historic night for U.S swimming. This is the fourth straight Olympic where Phelps has taken gold in the event and he did is so by a wide margin. Silver medalist Kosuke Hagino of Japan trailed Phelps by nearly a body length and bronze went to China’s Shung Wang, both decade younger than Phelps.
