Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has been named in Spain’s Davis Cup team to play against India in their World group play-off tie in New Delhi fro 16-18 September. World no five Nadal, will be joined by David Ferrer for singles duty with Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez slated for doubles.

Nadal had a disappointing US Open after he suffered a shock fourth round exit to 22-year-old French Lucas Pouille on Sunday. However, his early exit boosted his changes of a return for Davis Cup duty for the five-time champions against three-time runners-up India.

India will be represented by Ramkumar Ramanathan, Saketh Myneni, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna. This will be the third meeting between the two countries and first time since 1965 with Spain leading 2-1.
