Varun Singh Bhati who is making headlines across India after winning the bronze medal in the men’s high jump T-42 event at the Rio Paralympics on Saturday will receive a cash reward of Rs. one crore from Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Bhati recorded his personal best jump of 1.86 metres to finish third in the event which was won by Tamil Nadu’s Mariyappan Thangavelu who jumped 1.89metres.
The UP chief minister has congratulated Bhati, who belongs to Jamalpur village in Greater Noida, on his achievement and announced a cash reward of Rs. one crore.
