Benchmark indices have erased early gains and are trading near the low point of the day dragged by metal shares along with weak Asian cues leading to the decline. The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 82 points at 28,272 and the NSE Nifty dipped 20 points to trade at 8,696. About 1389 shares have advanced against 798 declining shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Top losers from the Sensex pack are Tata Steel, Coal India, TCS, ONGC and Tata Motors and on the gaining side are NTPC, Adani Ports, Asian paints, GAIL and Bharti Airtel.

Meanwhile, the Indian currency rupee has dropped by another 7 paise to 66.99 against the US dollar.
