Yet another Indian Air Force’s MiG-21 aircraft has crashed in Barmer in Rajasthan. The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about the ageing fleet of the Air Force, which is in the process of phasing out the old MiG-27 fighters. Till date nearly 30 Indian military aircraft have crashed in the past five years. Government may say big things making promises to phase out these ‘flying coffins’ as they are sarcastically called but nothing concrete is being done in this regard.
