‘The King of golf’, Arnold Palmer passes away at 87

Arnold Palmer, regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of golf, has passed away at the age of 87. Palmer died at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while awaiting cardiac surgery. During a long career, he won more than 90 tournaments, including seven majors. Palmer, known as ‘The King’ became the first person to make $1 million playing golf.

After learning to play golf at age 4, Palmer never stopped and his 50th and last appearance at the Masters came in 2004 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush. Palmer retired from professional golf two years later.
