UP Police turns bigger than Google in geo tagging for Dial 100

Uttar Pradesh Police has collected massive data of locations of rural areas that even Google did not have. Over 60 categories of locations have been geo-tagged which include temples, mosques, liquor shops, schools, crossing etc. According to Additional Director General (ADG), Traffic Anil Agarwal the UP Police through UP-100 GIS (Global Information System) application has successfully ge-tagged over 12 lakh locations in the State.

With this massive geo tagging the UP Police is set to become the most tech-savvy force in the country. UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s pet project will help police locate victims calling Dial 100 as when they call their location will pop up in the monitor screen of the control room and they will be able to get timely help.
