US Polls: Clinton and Trump engage in a feisty first debate

The two US presidential candidate finally faced each other at the first debate and the pair immediately clashed on policy and personality.

The New York showdown could be the most watched debate in television history, with up to 100 million viewers and around five million people tweeting about the debate.

In a feisty debate, Trump repeatedly clashed with Clinton, interrupting her 57 times and appearing agitated at times as they tangled over the economy, private mail server and Trumps unwillingness to release his income tax returns.

The debate overall covered areas of gun policies, the relations between the police and African American community in the wake of recent shootings and NATO agreement.

Clinton and Trump engaged in a dynamic back and forth at Hofstra University as polls showed them locked in a tight race.
