Hurricane Matthew which is considered as the most powerful Caribbean hurricane in nearly a decade has hit Haiti, bringing 230 KM/H winds, heavy rain and dangerous storm surges.

Southern Haiti has been cut off after the bridge linking it to the capital, Port-au-Prince collapsed. The UN said the country is facing the largest humanitarian event since the massive earthquake in 2010.

At least 11 people in the Caribbean have died due to the storm. Four people died in the Dominican Republic, five in Haiti, one in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and one in Colombia.

The Hurricane brushed past the eastern tip of Cuba and the forecasters warn the storm winds and heavy rain could hit Florida and move up the East coast.
