The 30-share BSE Sensex is down 65.66 points or 0.23 per cent at 28,268.89 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty is down 26.8 points or 0.31 per cent at 8,742.35. Top five Sensex gainers are Asian Paints, HUL, State Bank of India, Tata Motors and Maruti. The major losers are ONGC, Bajaj Auto, M&M, Axis Bank and Adani Ports (-0.88%). Among BSE sectoral indices, IT index fell the most by 0.75 per cent, TECk 0.5 per cent, banking and oil & gas 0.45 per cent each. The rupee has slide down 16 paise to 66.62 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to higher demand for the American currency from importers and banks.
