New Zealand started strongly with half-centuries from Martin Guptill and Tom Latham in response to India’s excellent first-innings total. However, India’s all-rounder R Ashwin struck 15 minutes before lunch to end their 118-run opening stand.
As the team heads for tea break, New Zealand trail India by 341 runs with four wickets remaining. The post lunch session was owned by the Indian as the Kiwi middle order collapsed like a deck of cards with Ashwin racking up a four-for in no time.
