Benchmark share indices continued to trade flat after gains in select private banks helped capped further downside. The Sensex is up 46.20 points or 0.2 percent at 27719.80 and the Nifty is down 0.25 points at 8583.15. About 1524 shares have advanced, 812 shares declined, and 137 shares are unchanged. ICICI Bank is up 6 percent, Axis Bank, SBI, NTPC and Tata Steel are top gainers in the Sensex. Bharti, Asian Paints, M&M, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Auto are losers in the Sensex.
Meanwhile, the Indian currency rupee has turned weak by 12 paise to 66.83 against the dollar today at the foreign exchange market.
