The benchmark Sensex moved up nearly 27 points in early trade today on sustained buying by participants amid a mixed trend in other Asian markets.
The 30-share index rose 26.97 points, or 0.10 per cent, to 27,284.61, with sectorial indices led by oil & gas, consumer durables, capital goods, PSU and healthcare trading higher by up to 0.84 per cent. The NSE index Nifty too edged higher by 6.15 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 8,423.15.
Meanwhile, the rupee plunged by another 17 paise to 68.25 against the US dollar in early trade today on increased demand for the American currency from importers.
